here’s a bit of james taylor:
another classic. this week is full of classics.
this is one of my favorites.
here’s a little thought for today:
there is enough rage and hate in this world. the only way to stop this is through love. you cannot fight fire with fire. you have to extinguish fire with water. so, extinguish rage with love.
their old familiar carols play,
and wild and sweet the words repeat
of peace on earth, good will to men.
“i thought how, as the day had come,
the belfries of all christendom
had rolled along th’unbroken song
of peace on earth good will to men.
“and in despair i bowed my head:
‘there is no peace on earth,’ i said,
‘for hate is storng and mocks the song
of peace on earth good will to men.’
then pealed the bells more loud and deap:
‘God is not dead nor does He sleep;
the worng shall fail, the right prevail,
with peace on earth good will to men.’
till, ringing, singing, on its way,
the world revolved from night to day,
a voice, a chime, a chant sublime,
of peace on earth, good will to men!”
– Henry Wadsworth Longsfellow (one of my all-time favorite Christmas songs.)
thank you sufjan for putting these on your christmas album.
let’s not forget how amazing these people were to be worthy to be Christ’s parents. These songs really make me want to watch the Nativity, especially the second.
